Ahlstrom EasyLife® portfolio offers an extensive material range with three dimensional appearances, giving our customers new design opportunities. All materials have a luxurious, textile like touch. The substrates can contain natural fibers such as sisal and flax, unique textures with lined appearances or a structured look. Our embossable materials provide designers the capability to create a wide range of surface effects.
Responsible fiber sources
All fibers for our wallcovering range originate from responsible sources. The fibers have full traceability to the origin of the wood with all Ahlstrom wallcover plants being Chain-of-Custody certified making it possible to offer FSC™ and PEFC™ certified products to certified customers. In addition, our Due Diligence system for the EU Timber Regulation has been externally verified.
Environmentally sound manufacturing operations
Our LCA work shows raw materials and manufacturing being the biggest contributors to the environmental impacts of our wallcoverings.
All wallcover manufacturing plants thus have ISO14001 certified systems for their environmental management being committed to continuous improvement. Osnabrück and Ställdalen plants are also certified for their energy management with ISO50001 and EN16001. Our use of recycled PET fibers clearly improves the environmental performance of wallcovers compared to only virgin PET fibers containing alternatives.
All Ahlstrom wallcover products are CE and RAL approved.
The CE (Conformite Europeenne) compulsory approval means that Ahlstrom as a manufacturer has verified that the product complies with all relevant essential requirements (such as safety, health, environmental protection) of the applicable directive(s) or, if stipulated in the directive(s), has had it examined by a conformity assessment body. Wallcoverings are construction products, which have been harmonized in the European Union in the product standard EN 15102 "Decorative wall coverings - Roll and panel form products". Like all European product standards, this standard contains provisions to satisfy the Essential Requirements of the Construction Products Directive, which are the prerequisites for obtaining the CE-Mark. The CE-Mark then allows the wallcovering to be placed on the market in all EU member states. EN 15102 contains requirements for fire retardant performance and for the release of formaldehyde, volatile organic compounds, heavy metals, vinyl chloride monomer, sound absorption and thermal resistance. Test data for specific products is available upon request.
The RAL-GZ 479 Quality Marks (Gütezeichen) for wallcoverings as defined by the German Institute for Quality assurance and Certification identify those products and services that are manufactured or provided according to high, precisely specified quality criteria. The criteria include heavy metals, vinyl chloride monomer, formaldehyde, volatile organic compounds (VOC) and aromatic containing solvents. Test data for specific products is available upon request.
