Ahlstrom chopped strand mats are used in various applications. You could be making boats or wind turbine blades, vehicle bodies or electrical insulation or anticorrosive wrapping for tanks and pipes. Our chopped strand mats have good surface bonding and high strand integrity, easy handling, excellent drapeability, easy air removal, as well as extremely fast wet-through, wet-out and low resin consumption. They also give a high glass content and excellent surface finish to the laminate.
Ahlstrom emulsion mat is a special reinforcement for hand lay-up and low-pressure processes. It is suitable for both single and multi-ply techniques.
Ahlstrom powder bonded mats are special reinforcements for hand lay-up and continuous lamination processes.

Technologies
Ahlstrom chopped strand mats consist of high performance chopped glassfiber strands made from silane sized E-glass fibers. The web is formed from 50 mm long strands bonded together with a styrene soluble or non-soluble binder.
