Ahlstrom is committed to sustainable development in many ways. This includes the choice of raw materials, the reduction of the impact of operations on the environment, and the development of new products and technologies. Our focus on sustainability led to the development of Ahlstrom BioWeb™, a unique fine filament web designed for ultrasonic and heatseal teabags and made from Polylactic acid (PLA). This renewable and sustainable biopolymer is derived from plant sugars and is biodegradable and compostable to EN13432.

Ahlstrom BioWeb™ is certified in accordance with the US FDA regulation CFR176.170 and/or EU regulation 1935-2004.
