Preventing Mineral Oil Contamination in food packaging
Ahlstrom is committed to going ƒrom Plastic to Purpose by developing innovative fiber-based materials to meet the increasing demand for more sustainable solutions and helping the food packaging industry in the transition towards a more circular economy.
Plasma separation card (HemaSep L) in quantitative LC MS/MS amino acids analysis
Amino acids (AAs) are essential building blocks of every known life, including humans. They play an important role in organism homeostasis, so their circulated-free concentration should be carefully monitored. The study conducted by the independent laboratory Masdiag presents the use of Ahlstrom's plasma separation cards (HemaSep-L) for free amino acid (AA) analysis.
Addressing the need for sustainable consumer packaging through collaborative innovation
Developing packaging that has a sustainable and positive end-of-life journey is a key focus area for both Ahlstrom and its customers. In partnership with customer, S-One Labels and Packaging, Ahlstrom has worked collaboratively with S-OneLP’s product development team to develop a paper-based laminated structure specifically for food packaging, that is made from certified industrial compostable components.
Highly Engineered Base Papers for Barrier Development
Fibers are at the core of what Ahlstrom does every day, and they are the common denominator of our products and solutions. We already utilize fibers to produce a wide range of products for food packaging, ecommerce, highly specialized products, and diagnostic tools – yet this is only the beginning. Ahlstrom is continuously developing new fiber-based solutions that are important contributors to a better, more sustainable, and brighter future.
Ahlstrom commits becoming net-zero contributor
The urgent need for climate action and the importance of rapid emissions cuts are crucial in combatting climate change. In July 2022, Ahlstrom published its renewed strategy and purpose, in which we commit to reducing our carbon footprint in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and joined the Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaign. As part of the SBTi commitment, Ahlstrom will make a step change in sustainability and lead the way towards a Net-Zero future.
Ahlstrom-Munksjö's FluoroFree® papers support movement away from traditional grease-resistance treatments, while meeting science-based measurements
In recent years, there has been a movement to develop more sustainable packaging solutions for consumers and brand owners. One specific trend in this movement has been the paper industry’s voluntary movement away from the use of certain chemicals, which enable grease-resistance in food packaging. Ahlstrom-Munksjö has been the marketplace leader in this effort.
Healthy environments create well-being societies
Noise, light, and chemical pollution are just some of the health-damaging pollutants, accumulating and increasing on our planet at an unprecedented rate. According to the WHO, over 13 million deaths occur yearly due to preventable environmental causes. When the climate crisis is also a health crisis, it’s essential to understand that keeping humans and the planet healthy is a duo task.
