175 Years: In the moment, for the future

For 175 years, Ahlstrom has been built to last because it has been built to change.

From our roots in forests, shipbuilding, glass fiber and paper making to the material science company we are today, our story is one of transformation, innovation and long-term thinking. At every pivotal moment, people across Ahlstrom have made choices that helped shape what came next

Today, we continue that journey by focusing our technology, expertise and renewable fiber-based solutions on some of the world’s biggest challenges from clean air and clean water to sustainable alternatives to single-use plastic and applications that support healthcare.

As we celebrate our 175-year anniversary, we are proud to share our documentary-style video reflecting our history, our people and the future we are building together.
