FortiCell® LAB Portfolio

Ahlstrom FortiCell® is our fiber-based solution designed for Lead Acid Batteries (LAB). The full portfolio includes solutions for Separator Reinforcement Mat, Pasting Materials and Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) media.

Pasting Materials

The pasting material is laminated onto the electrodes. The functions of the pasting material are to

• prevent lead dust in the workshop
• prevent shedding of the electrode

  • Rapid cellulose dissolution: due to pure cellulose pasting media

Absorbent Glass Mat Media (AGM)

The Absorbent Glass Mat is a microglass separator for energy storage applications. The separator allows hydrogen ions to move from the anode to the cathode with minimal resistance.  It can also “store” hydrogen ions when the battery is not in use to allow a rapid restart and to prevent the anode and cathode from being in contact.

Separator Reinforcement Mat

The Separator Reinforcement Mat meets the market requirements of high dimensional stability, controlled fibrous structure for a low resistivity, fast acid absorption and wicking for rapid battery fill. Plus low ionic contamination.
