Keeping your food safe with BRC High Hygiene Certification

Ahlstrom-Munksjö is continuously placing quality and high accountability standards as a top priority. As a part of these ongoing efforts, several of Ahlstrom-Munksjö’s North American and European plants that specialize in food products carry BRC Food Safety certification. The BRC Food Safety Standard is a leading global initiative recognized by thousands of customers worldwide, and has certified more than 23,000 suppliers in 123 countries around the globe. It was also the first Food Safety Standard to be benchmarked by the GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) scheme, and includes specific requirements for packaging.

“As a global supplier to the food packaging industry, the BRC Standard provides our customers continued confidence in our packaging papers safety program and supply chain management,” explained Travis Dahlke, Vice President for Ahlstrom-Munksjö’s Food Packaging business. “BRC’s audit standards are stringently maintained, and we look at this not only as an additional assurance to our customers, but it also provides us standards to continuously meet in all health and safety initiatives at our plants.”

BRC Certification is currently maintained at plants in both North America and Europe.

“The BRC standard specifically looks at the role of food packaging in keeping the food supply safe, and how Ahlstrom-Munksjö as a packaging material supplier can improve its processes to further reduce food contamination risk for customers that use our produce,” explained Dahlke. “BRC is one of 4 globally recognized process management codices for packaging materials, and BRC has been evaluated as the best for a paper making process.”

In addition, Ahlstrom-Munksjö was one of the first packaging paper companies in North America to adopt this certification.

“BRC Certification sets us apart as providing papers with the highest measure of safety, quality and legality currently available.”
