Ahlstrom reaches the Leaderboard in CDP Supplier Engagement Assessment with an A-list score

AHLSTROM OYJ, PRESS RELEASE, AUGUST 15, 2025, at 11 EEST

Ahlstrom, a global leader in fiber-based specialty materials, has been recognized for its strong commitment to climate action, achieving a score of A in the 2024 CDP Supplier Engagement Assessment (SEA).

The CDP SEA evaluation is based on five key areas: governance and business strategy, Scope 3 emissions reporting and verification, targets, risk management processes, and supplier engagement.

Companies that are committed to strong supplier engagement play an important role in driving environmental changes and in the shift to net zero. The CDP assessment highlights best practices and leading companies. The SEA score is based on responses to CDP’s Climate Change questionnaire and focuses on how companies influence their supply chains.

Ahlstrom’s supplier practices are rooted in the company’s sustainability targets. All suppliers who wish to do business with Ahlstrom must agree to Ahlstrom’s Code of Conduct or otherwise demonstrate their compliance. Ahlstrom maintains close relationships with suppliers from the induction to ongoing partnership.

“In procurement, we have made ESG a strategic focus by launching a supplier engagement program aimed at making Ahlstrom’s supply base an industry benchmark. The program targets our top 100 suppliers, aligning with three key goals: reducing Scope 3 CO2 emissions, safeguarding the company’s reputation, and ensuring regulatory compliance, through multiple collaborative meetings supported by our procurement teams”, says Bernard Arrateig, Responsible Procurement Manager.

Earlier this year, Ahlstrom earned a Leadership score A- in CDP Climate Disclosure. Complementing Ahlstrom’s sustainability leadership, the company has also earned a Platinum medal from EcoVadis, placing the company among the top 1 percent in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices globally. In 2024, the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validated Ahlstrom's 1.5°C aligned near-term and long-term targets as well as company’s net-zero targets.
