Creating packaging functionally with less materials - introducing ParaFree™ Wax Alternative Papers
The food packaging and fast food restaurant industries are continuing to explore food packaging alternatives that offer both safe and sustainable solutions. Ahlstrom-Munksjö is meeting that need with its new line of ParaFree™ Wax Alternative Papers.
ParaFree™ papers are paraffin wax free, reducing the dependency on petroleum-based ingredients.
“Without the additional wax needed for performance, yields can improve by greater than 10%, providing meaningful sustainability impacts to the supply chain,” explained Zack Leimkuehler, Head of Business and Product Development with Ahlstrom-Munksjo’s North America Specialty Solutions team. “However we are seeing significant performance with these products even with the removal of traditional waxes. The sheet offers excellent water repellency and resists oils and typical sandwhich condiments, in addition to offering recylabilityu and compostability options for the brand owners and end-use custoemrs.”
In addition to being printable on both sides, its higher brightness and opacity opposed to traditional wax papers strengthens the visibility of the consumer’s brand image and message.
