In response to the exponential spread of the COVID-19 virus in Northern Italy at the end of February, a team at Ahlstrom-Munksjö’s Turin plant started to evaluate what they could do to support the safety and wellbeing of employees and local communities.
The coronavirus (COVID-19) has caused an exceptional situation globally, creating an incredible demand for healthcare goods in general, and specifically for protective medical products that are made from Ahlstrom-Munksjö’s fabrics.
The rapid spread of COVID-19 across the world has exposed major gaps in the abilities of most countries to respond to a virulent new pathogen. This has inevitably led to an increase in the demand for healthcare goods in general and particularly protective medical products made of fabrics, medical devices, diagnostics and screening tools.
Ahlstrom-Munksjö provides products that serve many critical industries around the world, including healthcare products and solutions for life science diagnostics, food packaging, and essential shipping materials, which are currently all in high global demand due to the COVID-19 virus.
In 2019 Ahlstrom-Munksjö asked its employees to suggest projects or organizations that the company could support. Eight projects were selected. One of them is an organization called the New Community Shelter in Wisconsin, USA.
